If you tuned in at 10pm ET last night, you didn't miss much. All you really needed to see was Jordin Sparks being crowned the new "American Idol." The rest of the show was long and boring. With the exception of a few funny moments, the rest of the show was dreadful. The return of Sanjaya added some comic relief, especially with the wind machine blowing his lovely hair to and fro. But every single legendary performer was worse than the next. Poor Bette Midler and Tony Bennett, they just can't reach the high notes, and Smokey Robinson looked like his recent chemical peel took away most of his skin. Roberta Flack was awesome...she can still belt it out. And thank God the "American Idol" producers still have Carrie Underwood to promote...she's really the only Idol alum who has any talent at all...even Kelly Clarkson sounded awful. I did enjoy the return of Kenneth & Jonathan, winning the Golden Idol award for best couple. But where was the Cowardly Lion girl? She was absolutely the "best of the worst" in 2007.

No big surprise here. And you could see a huge sigh of relief on Clive Davis' face since he may actually have a real "Idol" who can sell lots of records, maybe on the same level as Carrie Underwood.

Blake Lewis sounded great on his first song during last night's finale, but the night really belonged to Jordin. She totally hit a home run with this last song. Bet this will be her first single cut when she's crowned the next "American Idol" tonight!

Unlike last year, the two finalists left standing on "American Idol" Season 6 can really sing. Ironically, Chris Daughtry, who never even made it to the top 3 of Season 5, is performing this week on the "American Idol" finale. I guess Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee were too busy doing the local County Fair and Rodeo Circuits. While Daughtry has had much success with a few pop chart hits, Taylor "Soul Patrol" Hicks is no where to be found. Hicks joins other "American Idol" winners like Ruben Studdard and Fantasia who have had less than stellar careers on the pop charts. Perhaps Jordin Sparks has a real shot of being more like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, since she can sing, and may actually sell some records for Clive Davis.

It was a bit shocking to see Melinda eliminated last night, particularly after hearing Simon sing her praises all the way through the competition. But I think the Blake fan base of young teen girls and older women totally pushed him forward. "No neck" Melinda is certainly a far better singer, and will certainly get some record deal from someone. So as Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis advance to the finale of Season 6, who will be the next "American Idol?"
